Trend Tec Canada was established in 1990 by Dan Melanson after working in the aviation field for 15 years as an AME and holding various management positions ranging from Chief Engineer to General Manager to Director of Marketing.

Trend Tec Canada initially held the Canadian Distribution rights for a number of aviation related products including turbine engine monitoring systems and thermal imaging systems.

In 1992 Trend Tec Canada expanded their services to provide special management services as well as overall project management to helicopter and fixed wing companies in Canada and the United States. These services include aviation related company start ups, aircraft acquisition and disposition and special projects. An example of some past projects are the management from inception thru design, installation, and certification of the first ENG installation in Canada with the CTV television network, and more recently the acquisition refurbishment and delivery to the Canadian Coast Guard of a replacement IFR Bell 212.In 1999 Dan was accepted as a member in the National Aircraft Appraiser Association and became a certified Aircraft Appraiser. In 2005 Dan completed the necessary training requirements and was certified as a Senior Certified Aircraft Appraiser, and in 2007 he added a USPAP (uniform standards of professional appraisal practice) endorsement to his appraisal qualifications. In addition Dan holds a Valid A.M.E licence (Aircraft Maintenance Engineer).

With over four decades of experience in aviation Dan is also called on to provide his expertise to review proposed aviation projects and as an expert witness in aviation related civil matters.
